1. Introduction
Welcome to Local Byt (“Local Byt”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, protect, and share your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By accessing or using Local Byt, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, improve, and secure the Local Byt hyperlocal experience.
a. Information You Provide
• Account & Profile Data: Name, phone number and profile photo (Optional).
• User-Generated Content: Posts, comments, uploaded images, and other media or messages you share on the platform.
• Support & Communications: Information provided when contacting customer support or submitting feedback.
b. Location Information (Core Functionality & Static Storage)
To display neighborhood updates, community posts, and local groups within a 5km radius, Local Byt processes location data provided by your device. If you don’t provide location, you can still browse the community feed but with limited functionality.
User Control: You can adjust your saved location or manage device location permissions at any time via your device settings or profile options. Disabling location access may limit your ability to view or post content relative to your immediate surroundings.
Static Radius Model: When you set or update your location within the app, Local Byt captures and saves those coordinates to define your active 5km feed radius.
No Continuous or Background Tracking: Local Byt DOES NOT continuously track, monitor, or record your physical movement in real-time, nor do we track your location in the background or while the app is closed. Location data is only accessed or updated when you explicitly select, set, or refresh your location in the app interface.
Purpose: Your saved location coordinates are used strictly to query and filter nearby posts, verified local updates, and relevant neighborhood groups within a 5km radius.
c. Information Collected Automatically
• Device & App Identifiers: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (such as Android ID or Firebase Instance ID), and app version.
• Usage & Diagnostic Data: Crash logs, error reports, performance metrics, and interaction data collected via analytics services (e.g., Firebase) to fix bugs and prevent abuse.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information strictly to:
Authenticate, manage, and secure your account.
Provide location-based feed filtering within a 5km radius.
Facilitate content sharing and community interactions.
Detect, prevent, and moderate spam, abusive behaviour, and violations of our Community Guidelines using AI-driven automated tools combined with moderation team.
Troubleshoot app issues, monitor technical performance, and push critical updates.
Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Note: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties or data brokers.
4. Sharing of Information
We only share information under the following limited circumstances:
• Service Providers: We share necessary data with trusted infrastructure and service providers operating on our behalf (e.g., Google Firebase for backend database, authentication, analytics, and content moderation tools). These providers are bound by strict confidentiality and data protection agreements.
• Public/Community Visibility: Content, posts, profile photos, and display names you choose to post publicly are visible to other users within your local feed radius.
• Legal Compliance & Safety: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the physical safety, rights, and security of our users and the public.
5. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
• Security: We employ industry-standard encryption (in transit and at rest) through Firebase and cloud infrastructure to safeguard your information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.
• Retention: We retain your personal data only as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with the Service.
6. Account and Data Deletion Rights
You have full control over your personal data. You have the right to access, correct, or permanently delete your account and associated personal data at any time.
How to Delete Your Account and Data
In-App Deletion: Go to Profile Settings > Account > Delete Account. Confirming this will permanently delete your profile, user data, and associated posts.
Web / External Request: If you cannot access the app, you can submit an account deletion request online via email or through our web portal:

Upon receiving a valid request, all personal account information, profile data, and user-generated content will be permanently removed or anonymized within 30 days, unless retention is mandated by law.
7. Children’s Privacy
Local Byt is intended strictly for users 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from individuals under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take immediate steps to delete such data and terminate the account.
8. Third-Party Services
Our app integrates third-party tools (such as Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics) to ensure performance and reliability. These third parties process data according to their respective privacy policies.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notifications or email prior to taking effect. Your continued use of Local Byt after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
10. Child Safety & Anti-CSAE Policy
Local Byt maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) and Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). We are committed to maintaining a safe community environment for all users.
• 1. Prohibition of Harmful Content: Users are strictly prohibited from uploading, posting, sharing, generating, or transmitting any content that depicts, promotes, facilitates, or encourages child exploitation, abuse, grooming, or harm of any kind.
• 2. Proactive Moderation & Account Termination: We utilize automated filtering and active moderation to detect and prevent harmful content. Any user account found to be involved in the creation, sharing, or distribution of CSAE/CSAM will be immediately and permanently banned from the app without prior notice.
• 3. In-App Reporting Mechanism: Users can report suspicious or abusive posts, profiles, or media directly within the Local Byt app using the in-app reporting tools located on content posts and user profiles.
• 4. Reporting to Law Enforcement & NCMEC: In accordance with applicable laws, any confirmed or suspected instances of CSAM or child exploitation will be promptly reported to relevant law enforcement agencies and international child protection authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
